These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Scan AI mobile application ("the app", "we", "our"). By downloading or using Scan AI, you agree to these Terms.

1. Description of Service

Scan AI is a receipt scanning and bill splitting app for iOS. The app uses AI-powered text recognition to read receipt images and calculate what each person owes. The app offers two modes:

• Just Me — select the items you ordered and see your total.
• Group — add people, assign items to each person, and see individual totals.

2. Subscription & Pricing

Scan AI offers a free tier and paid Pro subscriptions:

• Free — 3 scans per month. No account or payment required.
• Pro Monthly — $1.99/month. Unlimited scans, group splitting, and receipt history.
• Pro Annual — $9.99/year. Same Pro features at a discounted rate.
• Lifetime — $39.99 one-time purchase. Permanent access to all Pro features.

All prices are in USD and may vary by region. Prices are subject to change with notice.

3. Billing & Cancellation

All purchases are processed through the Apple App Store. By subscribing, you agree to Apple's payment terms. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.

To manage or cancel your subscription, go to Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions on your device. Refund requests must be directed to Apple, as we do not process payments directly.

4. Free Tier Limitations

Free users receive 3 receipt scans per calendar month. The scan count resets at the beginning of each month. Once the limit is reached, you must wait for the next month or upgrade to Pro for unlimited access.

5. AI Processing & Accuracy

Scan AI uses artificial intelligence (Google Gemini AI) to read and interpret receipt images. While we strive for high accuracy, AI-powered text recognition is not guaranteed to be error-free.

• The app may misread items, prices, or totals due to image quality, receipt formatting, handwriting, or language complexity.
• You are responsible for verifying all amounts before settling payments.
• We are not liable for any financial discrepancies resulting from incorrect AI parsing.
• The app allows you to edit parsed items and prices before splitting.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Scan AI only for its intended purpose of scanning receipts and splitting bills. You may not:

• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the app.
• Use the app to process fraudulent or illegal documents.
• Circumvent scan limits or subscription restrictions.
• Use automated tools to interact with the app or its services.

7. Intellectual Property

The Scan AI app, including its design, code, and content, is the intellectual property of its developer. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on your iOS devices in accordance with these Terms and the Apple App Store terms.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Scan AI and its developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to:

• Financial losses resulting from incorrect receipt parsing or calculations.
• Loss of data stored locally on your device.
• Inability to access the app or its features due to technical issues.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

Scan AI is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that AI parsing results will be accurate. Use the app at your own discretion and risk.

10. Termination

Since Scan AI does not require user accounts, there is no account termination process. You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it from your device. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.

We reserve the right to discontinue the app or modify its features at any time without prior notice.

11. Apple App Store Terms

Your use of Scan AI is also subject to the Apple App Store Terms of Service and Apple's standard End User License Agreement (EULA). In the event of a conflict between these Terms and Apple's terms, Apple's terms shall prevail with respect to App Store-related matters.

Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Any claims relating to the app should be directed to the developer, not Apple.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the app shall be resolved through appropriate legal channels.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
